LPR Customs seize 78 mln rub worth smuggled goods and 46 vehicles in 2020

LUGANSK, December 28 (Lugansk Media Centre) – LPR Customs Committee have seized 78 mln rub worth smuggled goods and 46 vehicles this year, the Custom's chairman Yury Afanasyevskiy said.

"Since the beginning of the yaer, LPR Customs officers have exposed 98 violations of customs law and seized goods of the 78 mln rub total worth."

"Perpetrators used 46 vehicles to smuggle goods, all the vehicles have also been seized."

Afanasyevskiy said the bulk of the contraband is cigarettes and consumer goods, 55 pc and 31 pc, respectively.

The seized cigarettes are estimated at 42.7 mln rubles, consumer goods – 24 mln rubles.

This year, 329 criminal cases were launched following violations of the customs laws, in 74 of them objects of the crime worth 35.2 mln rubles in total were seized.

In 2019, LPR Customs Committee seized 99.2 mln rub worth smuggled goods and 30 vehicles.
