LPR carries out UXO clearance on 1,100 hectares of land over year
LUGANSK, December 31 (Lugansk Media Centre) - Engineers of the Lugansk People’s Republic militia and the Emergencies Ministry have carried out UXO clearance on more than 1,100 hectares of land over a year, the LPR Office at the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) reported.
“Militia and Emergencies Ministry engineer units, assisted by the LPR Office at the JCCC, carried out UXO clearance works in the vicinity of settlements and vital infrastructure facilities,” the report said. “Overall, 1,012 pieces of unexploded ordnance have been rendered harmless; a 1,135 hectare area has been cleared.”
In the first half of 2020, LPR Emergencies Ministry engineers demined some 500 hectares of farmland. In 2019, they defused 826 explosive hazards.
