LPR asks OSCE to prompt foreign representatives to inspect Stanitsa bridge
LUGANSK, May 15 (Lugansk Media Centre) – The LPR representatives in the humanitarian subgroup of the contact group have addressed its coordinator Toni Frisch asking him to persuade representatives of foreign countries to inspect the ruined part of the bridge outside Stanitsa Luganskaya used by pedestrians to cross the contact line.
LPR representative in the Contact Group humanitarian subgroup Olga Kobtseva said that representatives of the USA, Austria and the OSCE chairperson do not enter the buffer zone to see what's going on there and how people struggle to cross the bridge walking on the wooden ramp installed over the collapsed parts of the bridge.
"We ask Mr. Frisch to persuade international representatives to come closer to the ruined bridge to estimate the situation objectively," Kobtseva said.
The reconstruction of the Stanitsa Luganskaya bridge is being obstructed by the disagreement of the sides on its width, as the Coordinator of the Humanitarian working group Ambassador Toni Frisch said in April as he visited the Republic.
Currently there is only one official checkpoint at the line of contact in LPR area of responsibility in Donbass and it is accessible via the bridge in the vicinity of Stanitsa Luganskaya. Only pedestrian traffic there is possible as a temporary wooden ramp has been installed over the collapsed sections of the bridge. The bridge sustained damage after it had been blown up by Ukrainian forces on March 19, 2015. LPR has been continuously proposing to rebuild it.
