LPR 1Q egg production increases by 25 percent year-on-year
LUGANSK, April 10 (Lugansk Media Centre) - First quarter egg production in the Lugansk People’s Republic increased by nearly 25 percent year-on-year, and meat and dairy farms reported an increase as well, the Republic’s Agriculture and Food Ministry public relations office told the Lugansk Media Centre.
“We’re happy about livestock breeding’s positive dynamics since the beginning of 2018: the Republic’s milk production increased by 3 percent year-on-year and egg production by 23 percent,” the Ministry said.
The Lutuginskiy district showed the largest increase in milk production (44 percent). Sverdlovskiy district farms posted a 174 percent increase in meat production year-on-year, the largest in the Republic. The Kranodonskiy district is currently the top egg producer in the LPR with a 50 percent increase in production year-on-year.
Positive dynamics are observed in livestock production which increased by 2 percent year-on-year. Pig herds increased by 2 percent and poultry stocks grew by 1 percent. Cattle reproduction grew by 19 percent, cow mating by 8 percent, heifer mating by 16 percent and pig mating by 27 percent, the Agriculture Ministry said.
Perevalskiy district farmers lead other LPR areas in terms of livestock increase (27 percent) and pig heard increase (42 percent); the Lutuginskiy district is leader in poultry stock increase (36 percent year-on-year).
The Ministry is taking the inventory of summer cattle camps and drawing a schedule of repairs and moving cattle to pastures. “Green conveyor” schemes are developed to provide uninterrupted supply of fodder throughout the summer.
