Kiev sabotages work on Zolotoye and Schastye checkpoints construction - Kobtseva
LUGANSK, August 19 (Lugansk Media Centre) - The Ukrainian side is sabotaging the work on the construction of Zolotoye and Schastye checkpoints on the contact line, Olga Kobtseva, the representative of the Republic in the humanitarian subgroup, head of the LPR working group on the exchange of POW, said following the videoconferences of the Contact Group and its subgroups.
"As of today, the Republics are actively working on the constructing the infrastructure of checkpoints. The agreement was reached that the work is being carried out synchronically with Ukraine. The work carried out by the Republic is confirmed by the reports of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission, no work is being done at the Ukrainian side, "she said.
Kobtseva said that during the videoconference of the humanitarian subgroup, when asked why the work was not being carried out, representatives of the Ukrainian side replied that "Ukraine needs a shorter period of time to establish infrastructure (checkpoints)."
“They basically avoided answering this question. Besides, the resolution of the Verkhovna Rada on holding local elections in the fall of 2020, which contradicts the Minsk Agreements, makes their commitment to any obligations doubtful, including the commitment on opening additional checkpoints in Schastye and Zolotoye ," she said.
LPR began engineer works at the construction sites on July 11 within the framework of the agreements reached at the Minsk talks.
Currently there is only one official crossing point in the LPR area of responsibility in Donbass and it is accessible via the bridge in vicinity of Stanitsa Luganskaya. In September 2017, LPR representatives at a meeting of the Contact Group humanitarian subgroup offered Ukraine to open a crossing point in the Schastye area.
The LPR repeatedly said that opening a crossing point in Zolotoye was not possible without settling the security issue, namely the presence of Ukrainian army hardware in the area which is a gross violation of the framework agreement on the disengagement of forces and hardware signed by Ukraine.
Previously, Kobtseva said that Ukraine had been blocking the launching of transport corridor for delivering humanitarian aid to the LPR. Humanitarian missions had been.
