Kiev forces shoot at SMM UAV inspecting repair works at Petrovskoye water pipe
LUGANSK, August 8 (Lugansk Media Centre) – Ukrainian troops opened fire on an OSCE SMM unmanned aerial vehicle inspecting repairs of a water pipe outside Artyoma village of the Stanitsa Luganskaya district, said LPR People's Militia spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Andrey Marochko.
The SMM reported that "while flying an UAV the SMM heard 15 bursts of small-arms fire assessed as directed at the UAV. At the time of incident, the UAV was flying at an altitude of approximately 200m about 500-700m south-east of the SMM’s position. The SMM recalled and safely landed the UAV. The SMM had flown the UAV to monitor and facilitate ongoing repair works at the Petrovskoye water pumping station. On 23 July, shots of small-arms fire were directed at an SMM UAV in the same area".
"Artyoma is located close to Kiev-controlled Schastye. Both Ukrainian side and we knew about the UAV operation, as mirror monitoring was being carried out to inspect the repair works at the Petrovskoye water pumping station," Marochko said.
"Despite this fact, members of the Ukrainian 59th brigade opened fire on the UAV as soon as it gained 200 meters altitude. The SMM report proves it."
