Kiev forces shell LPR positions outside Nizhneye Lozovoye
LUGANSK, August 26 (Lugansk Media Centre) – Ukrainian army units shelled Lugansk People’s Republic militia positions in the Nizhneye Lozovoye area, LPR People’s Militia spokesman Yakov Osadchiy said.
“Today, at 1:55 p.m., gunmen of Ukrainian armed formations' 30th brigade under command of a war criminal, Ivan Garaz, opened AGS fire at the positions of our defenders in the Nizhneye Lozovoye area," he said.
The spokesman said that the militia units “are fully committed to the ceasefire accord and do not respond to provocations.”
“We urge international organizations to execute pressure on Ukrainian armed formations to maintaine the truce,” he said.
The Contact Group at the meeting in Minsk on July 17 agreed the “summer ceasefire” in Donbass starting at 00:01 on July 21, as well as ceasefire control measures such as a ban on opening fire with any weapons, launching offensives, reconnaissance or sabotage operations, and deploying heavy armaments in residential areas.
The Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements was adopted by the Contact Group on Ukraine on February 12, 2015 and supported by member states of the Normandy Four (Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France). The UN Security Council approved the document by Resolution 2202 and called upon all the sides to ensure full implementation of the Package of Measures.
The document provides for comprehensive ceasefire, withdrawal of all heavy weapons from the contact line, starting a dialog on reconstruction of social and economic ties between Kiev and Donbass. It also envisages carrying out constitutional reform in Ukraine providing for decentralization and adopting permanent legislation on a special status of certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
