Kiev forces mask equipment outside Popasnaya to prevent SMM from spotting it
LUGANSK, June 6 (Lugansk Media Centre) – Ukrainian armed forces are camouflaging their military equipment outside Popasnaya so that the OSCE SMM does not spot it within the withdrawal lines, said LPR People's Militia spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Andrey Marochko.
"The command of the 80th brigade decided to carry out additional activities to mask equipment with the purpose of concealing the equipment banned under the Minsk Agreements from the SMM patrols."
According to Marochko, the LPR intelligence revealed three 120mm mortar positions outside Popasnaya; a mortar battery and three "BMP-1" infantry fighting vehicles of the 14th separate mechanized brigade outside Novoaleksandrovka.
The Ukrainian command also monitors the activity of the OSCE SMM drones to prevent them from spotting banned equipment.
Kiev forces regularly violate the truce opening fire with heavy artillery, mortars and tank guns, which should have been withdrawn in accordance with the Minsk Agreements.
The Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements was adopted by the Contact Group on Ukraine on 12 February 2015 and supported by member states of the Normandy Four (Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France). The UN Security Council approved the document by its 2202 Resolution and called upon all the sides to ensure full implementation of the Package of Measures.
The document provides for comprehensive ceasefire, withdrawal of all heavy weapons from the contact line, starting a dialog on reconstruction of social and economic ties between Kiev and Donbass. It also envisages carrying out constitutional reform in Ukraine providing for decentralization and adopting permanent legislation on a special status of certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
