Kiev derails Vodafone efforts to stabilize network in LPR - Deinego
LUGANSK, August 4 (Lugansk Media Centre) – Ukrainian authorities have derailed efforts aimed at restoring Vodafone (MTS Ukraine) mobile carrier normal operation in the LPR, said LPR acting Foreign Minister representing the Republic at Minsk talks Vladislav Deinego.
"The Ukrainian side has again disrupted MTS efforts to deliver equipment and spares for repair works and maintenance of base stations in the LPR," he said.
"This was the third episode when Kiev sabotages MTS weak attempts to normalize the connection."
In the first attempt, the Contact Group agreed on the restoration of services in spring, but Kiev blocked the attempt to get the approval for equipment shipping.
The second attempt, according to Deinego, more successful, took place in mid-July but some "fiscal authorities" prevented the equipment from crossing the contact line.
"On July 27, the parties in Minsk agreed to deliver the necessary equipment and kiev authorities made a promise not to interfere. Still, the attempt failed despite the coordinated route and dates; on August 2 the transport loaded with the equipment did not arrive."
On January 22, the LPR was cut off from the Vodafoneservices after an emergency disconnection of communication channel outside Veselaya Gora. It was restored within two days. The next failure occurred on July 9.
