Kiev deploys MLRS Grad, gunmen to contact line - LPR People’s Militia

LUGANSK, October 4 (Lugansk Media Centre) - Kiev forces deployed multiple launch rocket systems Grad to settlements in the vicinity of the contact line, as well as foreign mercenaries and Praviy Sector nationalistic battalion gunmen, LPR People’s Militia spokesman Andrey Marochko said at a press briefing at the Lugansk Media Centre.

“Ukrainian authorities are continuing to build up forces and hardware in the proximity to the contact line showing their unwillingness to resolve the Donbass conflict peacefully,” Marochko said.

“We recorded the arrival of up to 20 foreign mercenaries, supposedly from Georgia, in the responsibility zone of 14th Separate Mechanised Brigade,” he said. “Thirty militants of the nationalistic Praviy Sector formation arrived in the Stanitsa Luganskaya settlement area.”

“We also recorded the deployment of three MLRS BM-21 Grad in the Krymskoye area which is the responsibility zone of 53rd Separate Mechanised Brigade,” the spokesman added.

The Package of Measures for the Implementation of the Minsk Agreements was adopted by the Contact Group on Ukraine on February 12, 2015 and supported by member states of the Normandy Four (Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France). The UN Security Council approved the document by its 2202 Resolution and called upon all the sides to ensure full implementation of the Package of Measures.

The document provides for comprehensive ceasefire, withdrawal of all heavy weapons from the contact line, starting a dialog on reconstruction of social and economic ties between Kiev and Donbass. It also envisages carrying out constitutional reform in Ukraine providing for decentralization and adopting permanent legislation on a special status of certain areas of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
