LUGANSK, November 8 (Lugansk Media Centre) - Ukraine is creating deliberate obstacles to residents at the Stanitsa Luganskaya crossing point, Lugansk People’s Republic representative in the Contact Group humanitarian subgroup, head the Republic’s working group on prisoner exchange Olga Kobtseva told the Lugansk Media Centre.

“Ukraine deliberately making problems for outbound residents at its allegedly renovated crossing point in the Stanitsa Luganskaya area,” Kobtseva said.

“In September, Ukraine unilaterally shut down the Stanitsa crossing point in order to “create more comfortable conditions for citizens,” she said. "In actual fact, Lugansk region residents’s crossing procedure on the Ukrainian side is three times longer than at the LPR crossing point."

Earlier, Kobtseva said that the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission’s November 5 report noted that residents queued for some 3 hours at the Ukrainian checkpoint versus one hour at the LPR checkpoint.

The LPR State Security Ministry said that the engineering works at the Stanitsa Luganskaya crossing point which had been shut down by Ukraine pursued a military objective and had nothing to do with creating more comfortable conditions for residents.

Currently there is only one official checkpoint at the line of contact in the LPR area of responsibility in Donbass and it is accessible via the bridge in vicinity of Stanitsa Luganskaya. Only pedestrian traffic here is possible thanks to temporary conduit, as the bridge was blown up by Ukrainian forces in early 2015. LPR has been continuously proposing to rebuild it.
