Humanitarian group agrees to present updated POW lists next time - Kobtseva
LUGANSK, June 5 (Lugansk Media Centre) – The humanitarian working group of the Contact Group has agreed to present updated POW lists at the next meeting, said Olga Kobtseva representing the Republic in the humanitarian subgroup.
"A meeting of the humanitarian group took place today with the participation of a new Ukrainian representative Valeria Lutkovskaya. Mr. Yuriy Kochanov was attending as an expert, he was earlier engaged in POW exchange efforts.
"We agreed to bring lists of persons held in Ukraine and in the LPR to the next meeting," she said.
"Today, for the first time in a long time, in three years, the issue of missing persons was discussed. The representatives of the ICRC – the newly appointed Head of ICRC Mission in Ukraine Florence Gillette and her experts were present at the discussion." The sides agreed to work out a plan for coordination of search efforts with law enforcement authorities.
"Lutkovskaya said it had been an introductory meeting for her. Earlier she attended the meetings as an expert, and was out of the process by the time of her resignation."
According to Kobtseva, she was mostly listening and taking notes today.
"I wouldn’t say there was progress, but there was a dialog and there was no aggression typical for Irina Geraschenko, who often resorted to it. Today we could talk and the Ukrainian side presented their position, and we described ours."
Earlier Kobtseva said that the LPR wanted 100-plus detainees returned to the Republic.
