Head of LPR mission to JCCC urges Ukrainian forces to resolve conflict through negotiations
LUGANSK, December 28 (Lugansk Media Centre) - Acting LPR People’s Militia commander, head of the Republic’s mission to the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination Colonel Mikhail Filiponenko, in the runup to the New Year, urged Ukrainian army servicemen to stop shelling the Republic and negotiate a solution to the Donbass conflict.
“In the runup to the New Year holidays I’m calling upon Ukrainian army servicemen and their commanders to stop strikes at the territory of the Lugansk People’s Republic which continue to cause military and civilian casualties,” Filiponenko said.
“Ukrainian army officers and soldiers, you took an oath to defend the state, but not to shoot at your fellow countrymen, your brothers, sisters, children and old people. I urge you to stop this fratricidal war and start settling issues at the negotiating table,” he said.
He expressed the hope that peace would come to Donbass next year and that the servicemen would return to their families.
“Happy New Year and Merry Christmas to you and your families,” Filiponenko said in his New Year greetings to the Ukrainian military.
