LUGANSK, February 5 (Lugansk Media Centre) – German politicians and activists have visited the Stanitsa Luganskaya bridge and acquainted themselves with the situation in the area.
An Alternative for Germany (AfD) party member, member of the Berlin House of Representatives, commission for transport, environmental protection and climate Gunnar Lindemann, a member of the AfD, nanotechnologist and entrepreneur in the field of Clean-/Greentech Dr. Henning Zoz, and a member of the board of the AfD regional office Richard Gretzinger have arrived in the LPR on a working visit.
LPR representative in the Contact Group humanitarian subgroup Olga Kobtseva accompanied the German delegation.
"They saw with their own eyes what is going on in reality. They expressed surprise at seeing that the newly constructed bridge at the Ukrainian side is narrower than the original one," she said.
"They were told that this is the only checkpoint connecting LPR and Ukraine, the dialog on opening new ones is currently ongoing. We are most definitely interested in the opening of a corridor to allow people to cross the line and return back home within shortest time possible."
Lindemann said that he was shocked by the situation at the checkpoint. "I took a lot of pictures and shot videos (during earlier visits to the bridge) and showed them to the Bundestag deputies. We ignited a scandal in Germany, that this shameful bridge exists in Europe."
Gretzinger said that the queues reminded him of WWII films where thousands of refugees fled the conflict zones .
"The elderly, sick, cripple were walking there. It's an extremely sad scene."
