Families of miners killed in Skhidkarbon mine accident to receive reparations - Pasechnik
LUGANSK, April 28 (Lugansk Media Centre) – LPR will pay reparations to the families of miners killed in the methane gas explosion in the Skhidkarbon mine, the LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik announced on his Twitter.
The explosion hit the mine located in Yuriyevka, Lutugino district, in the morning April 25. After the three-day search and rescue operation was finished, the authorities said the accident had killed 17 miners.
"The families of killed and injured miners of the Skhidkarbon coalmine shall be awarded reparations and receive all necessary assistance from all the services and ministries concerned," Pasechnik said.
A national mourning was announced for the killed miners.
The Skhidkarbon mine, the only coal mine in the Lutugino district, is located in the township of Yuriyevka. It was halted in the wake of the Ukrainian aggression against Donbass in 2014 and resumed operation in January 2018. Its 2018 production amounted to 29,868 tons. It ships coal to the Alchevsk Steel and to Makeyevka and Enakievo steel companies in the DPR.
