Extensive damage following rock-fall complicates search and rescue efforts
LUGANSK, December 1 (Lugansk Media Centre) – The extensive debris caused by a rock-fall complicate search and rescue efforts at Cherkasskaya mine in Zimogorye, Slavyanoserbsk district, where two workers remain trapped underground.
Earlier in the day LPR Emergencies Ministry reported a rock-fall at Cherkasskaya mine at the depth of 680 m prompted by the dismantling of a tunnel supports. One of the miners has been rushed to hospital with moderately bruised spine. Two miners, born in 1964 and 1986, have been trapped underground.
"At this stage their condition remains unknown. The length of a high-density collapse is 12 m. The search and rescue operation is ongoing," the Ministry said.
