LUGANSK, May 10 (Lugansk Media Centre) - Acting Head of the Lugansk People’s Republic Leonid Pasechnik met with South Ossetia’s President Anatoly Bibilov in Lugansk on Thursday.

“Good that you’ve visited us,” Pasechnik said as we welcomed the guests at the Government House. “We are truly happy to see you because you’re the only ones who have recognised us for which we’re very grateful.”

“I regret not meeting you before; your delegation visited the LPR to sign an economic cooperation agreement. I believe your visit will broaden our powers, we’ll step up our dialogue and economic, political and social ties. I think we have much in common as well as good prospects,” he said.

“I’m confident that we’ll promote our interaction; we’ve laid its foundation and will intensify our cooperation,” Bibilov said.

“Our acquaintance cannot but be warm because we’ve graduated from military academies. I have many friends at the Donetsk Political School (Donetsk Higher Military-Political School of Engineer Troops and Signal Communications Troops - eds Lugansk Media Centre); it had a high reputation among all branches of the Soviet army, so the common ground of military education will facilitate our open dialogue,” the South Ossetian leader said.

“I’m extending my best wishes on the occasion you are going to mark: the Lugansk People's Republic Day. You know, we have walked the same path which was difficult but I always say and emphasize that if the people have made their choice, this choice will endure,” Bibilov said.

“If we think of the people living here in the LPR and the DPR, we can say with confidence that the objectives they have set to themselves are attainable and no missiles or shelling can prevent them from reaching the goals. We’ll always be by your side, ever ready to help and stand together. I’m sure we’ll reach inter-government accords which we simply must sign in order to be closer in the legal field," he said.

“The faster we pool our efforts we sooner problems and military conflicts will end. As we remember, when we stood together, we were stronger, united and inviolable, and once we broke up, military conflicts began to simmer in our territory. The sooner we understand that unity makes us strong, the sooner we’ll put an end to them,” Bibilov said.

“Let this visit be one of the first steps towards reaching our objective,” Pasechnik replied.

On February 6, 2018 acting LPR head Leonid Pasechnik held a meeting with South Ossetia Economic Development Ministry representatives. The next day, the Economic Development Ministries of the two republics signed a cooperation agreement.
