540,000 residents receive welfare benefits - LPR Social Policy Ministry
LUGANSK, September 27 (Lugansk Media Centre) - The Lugansk People's Republic pays welfare benefits to some 540,000 residents, LPR Labour and Social Policy Minister Yelena Makarenko said at a press briefing at the Lugansk Media Centre.
“Some 540,000 people are entitled to various monthly benefits such as pensions, allowances, and insurance payouts,” Makarenko said adding that the September payments had been completed on time.
The Republic has some 60 government organisations that provide full social support to war and labour veterans and disabled and elderly persons, she said.
LPR welfare centres provide services to single elderly people. There are also rehabilitation facilities for physically disabled persons, including children and risk group minors, the minister said.
On June 21, 2019, the LPR Council of Ministers passed resolutions to increase the amount of benefits, insurance payouts and wages of public sector workers and public officers.
The LPR labour and social policy minister said that benefits would increase for 35,000 recipients starting July 10.
LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik earlier announced an increase in pensions and public sector and civil service wages.
