“As many as 26,680 Lugansk residents have got vaccinated against influenza ahead of the epidemic season,” Gavrik said. “Priority was given to children and risk groups such as medics, teachers and trade and service centres personnel.”

He recommended to unvaccinated residents to avoid hypothermia and contact with sick people, take more C vitamin-rich foods such as cabbage, wild rose tea, citrus fruits, sweet pepper, black currants, onions and greens and keep to sleep schedule and diet.

Earlier, the Lugansk administration said that as of December 10, 2018, nearly 25,000 city residents had got free flu shots at 11 health centres of the Lugansk People’s Republic capital.

In 2017, more than 30,000 Lugansk residents were vaccinated against influenza free of charge, Gavrik said.
