LUGANSK, March 26 (Lugansk Media Centre) - Some 20,000 families in the Lugansk People’s Republic are eligible for one-time Victory Day payments this year, LPR Labour and Social Policy Minister Svetlana Malakhova said at a press briefing at the Government House.

Earlier, the Republic’s government resolution set the sum of May 9 benefits to veterans.

“LPR authorities will make one-time payments to some 20,000 families living in the Republic,” Malakhova said adding that some 365 residents were entitled to 75,000-ruble benefits.

The benefits can be collected at offices of the LPR Post state-owned enterprise and the State Bank in April.

“World War II veterans will have benefits delivered to their doorstep,” the minister said.  Benefits will be available to WWII veterans until September 30, 2020 if they are unable to collect them before May 9.

“WWII veterans who live in areas temporarily controlled by Ukraine will be able to collect the benefits by May 9 after stabilisation of the epidemiological situation and the lifting of contact line restrictions,” she said.

The minister said that under the Donbass people reunification humanitarian programme, the payment period for V-Day benefits extends to December 25, 2020.
